The DC FanDome returns in October 2021, with plenty of movies and TV shows confirmed to be covered. What are all the shows and movies coming to this year’s FanDome and what first looks can we expect from them? With plenty of exciting properties on the horizon, the 2021 FanDome is sure to be a hit with DC fans.
With the cancellation of San Diego Comic-Con in 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic, DC Entertainment has chosen to create a new virtual convention through DC FanDome. The 2020 FanDome was a huge success, with millions of people eagerly watching their first August 2020 event. Attendees were treated to concept artwork and trailers for highly anticipated properties like Wonder Woman 1984, The batman, and Zack Snyder Justice League.
With a plethora of DCEU movies, Arrowverse TV seasons, and other exciting properties coming in the not-so-distant future, the 2021 FanDome is sure to generate a lot of excitement. Viewers can expect to see new trailers, music videos, and appearances from the cast members.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
Release scheduled for December 2022, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will see the return of Jason Momoa in the lead role, with Amber Heard as Mera and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta. Although the film’s release is over a year away, the DC FanDome will include a special behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming sequel.
Independent film by Matt Reeves, The batman, has no connection to the DCEU’s Batman but is highly anticipated nonetheless, with an incredibly successful first trailer showing at FanDome 2020. While the film’s release date has been pushed back again, viewers can expect another trailer for the crime drama directed by Robert Pattinson.
With its third season set to begin three days before the start of the FanDome, Batwoman is one of several Arrowverse TV shows that will be previewed at the virtual convention. With Bridget Regan’s Poison Ivy and a new iteration of Victoria Cartagena’s Renee Montoya debut, they can be the focus of these previews.
The eagerly awaited DCEU Black adam will feature Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the titular antihero. With the 2020 FanDome revealing concept art for the film, the 2021 event gives a “first look” at the iteration of Teth-Adam’s Dwayne Johnson, who could face Zachary Levi’s Shazam in a future DCEU property.
DC League of Super-Pets
Release scheduled for May 2022, DC League of Super-Pets is an animated film that will see Superman’s Kryptonian dog, Krypto, create a new team of superheroes alongside other overpowered pets. The film already had a teaser released in 2020, so another preview, potentially a new trailer, could be shown at FanDome 2021.
The cursed patrol the final season will have already started with the 2021 FanDome, but a preview will be shown. With the overpowered misfits team nearing the end of Season 3 by October 16e, there may be a sizzle reel teasing the thrilling finale of Doom Patrol season three.
The Flash (DCEU)
One of the most anticipated films of the DCEU, Flash Not only will Ezra Miller and Ben Affleck reprise their roles as Barry Allen and Bruce Wayne, but also Michael Keaton’s long-awaited return as Batman from Tim Burton’s universe. The 2020 FanDome has released some exciting concept art of the DCEU Flash and Burton’s Batman battling side-by-side, and new previews are expected to be shown at the 2021 event.
The Flash (Arrowverse)
The Barry Allen of the Arrowverse has an exciting eighth season ahead of him. With the five-part Armageddon crossover event kicking off the final season of Flash, the two most important live iterations of the speedster will enter the multiverse. The FanDome will include a preview of Flash season 8 and the Armageddon event.
After a short break, the steamy comedy series Harley quinn potentially release its third season later this year. With many of the cast returning from the previous two seasons, the 2021 FanDome will include a preview of the season ahead. With more emphasis on the origin of Poison Ivy and her relationship with Harley, this can be the subject of the preview.
Legends of tomorrow
In addition to releasing its seventh season in October, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will soon have over 100 episodes. In addition to covering the current seventh season, the 2021 FanDome is expected to have a panel celebrating the series’ 100+ episodes. The panel will likely include the stars of Legends of tomorrow seventh season.
With a premiere slated for 2022, the latest Arrowverse TV show, Naomi, will premiere at FanDome 2021. Based on the comic book by Brian Michael Bendis and written by Arrow veterans Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship, Naomi will be the first live-action DC Comics superhero.
After an equally dark and comedic debut in The suicide squad, the anti-hero of John Cena, Peacemaker, will star in an HBO Max series, exploring the origin of the chauvinistic mercenary. The series, which is both written and produced by James Gunn, will premiere at the 2021 FanDome. The live-action series will consist of eight episodes and will be released in January 2022.
Shazam! The fury of the gods
With Zachary Levi as the titular superhero, Shazam! was one of the most heartfelt installments of the DCEU, mixing seriousness and comedy with great success. Of course, a sequel, Shazam! The fury of the gods was soon announced, seeing the return of Billy Batson and his family in their normal, overpowered forms. With filming for the sequel nearing completion, there will be a preview of the film at the 2021 FanDome.
With its sixth and final season currently underway, Super girl had a long and successful run, starring Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El. As with all other Arrowverse shows, the 2021 FanDome will highlight Super girl, celebrating the series’ six seasons with a farewell tribute.
Superman and Lois
The Arrowverse spinoff series at Super girl, Superman and Lois follows and older Clark Kent and Lois Lane, now parents of two and residents of Smallville, Clark’s hometown. The series’ first season recently ended, and although a second season has been announced, there is no set release date yet. The 2021 FanDome will include a preview for its next season, like every other Arrowverse TV show.
The HBO Max series Star girl is in the middle of its second season, with Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore. The series has been renewed for a third season, but it is not known when it will air. The DC FanDome will include a preview of an upcoming episode, however.
The grim and well-received adaptation of the Teen Titans comics, Titans is in the middle of his third season and will be nearing his 2021 FanDome finale. A preview of Titans has been confirmed, and he will likely focus on the upcoming season finale. The series has yet to be renewed for another season.
Young Justice: Ghosts
Young Justice was a fan-favorite animated series whose first two seasons originally aired on Cartoon Network. Exciting fan demand has brought the series back for a third season on DC Universe, and a fourth season, Young Justice: Ghosts, premieres on HBO Max on October 21st.
Other movies and shows appearing at DC FanDome 2021
The 2021 DC FanDome will include a preview of the upcoming season, and given the show’s 2020 FanDome event, there might be some additional surprises along the way.
