LAHORE: Government College University (GCU) and Majlis-e-Tarraqi-e-Adab (MTA) signed a memorandum of understanding for the joint publication of manuscripts and rare books for the promotion of literature in the country.
GCU Vice-Chancellor Professor Asghar Zaidi and Majlis Tarraqi-e-Adab Director Mansoor Afaq signed the agreement in a ceremony at the MTA office here on Wednesday. Eminent journalist Sohail Warraich and the chairman of the Persian department of GCU, Professor Muhammad Iqbal Shahid, were in attendance.
Speaking on the occasion, Mansoor Afaq said that according to the memorandum of understanding, GCU Press will publish the books of Majlis Tarraqi-e-Adab, while these books will be available at half price to students of the university. Vice-Chancellor Professor Asghar Zaidi said: “GCU Press is a non-profit organization inspired by the Cambridge and Oxford University Press and we will be publishing the work of academics around the world.”
Professor Zaidi believed it was our obligation to publish research and literature that shaped the ideas that would improve the lives of humans.
According to the MoU, GCU Lahore and MTA would also make joint efforts to promote literature inside and outside Pakistan.
