Poetry meeting to launch the e-Kerala literature festival on Friday

Thiruvananthapuram, May 27 (PTI) More than 50 poets from nearly 10 countries, including Israel and Palestine, will participate in a poetry session that kicks off at the Kerala Literature Festival (e-KLF 2021) on Friday.

The poetry festival is the start of a series of programs that will continue to lead to the possible physical event on the beaches of Kozhikode in January 2022, organizers said.

The poetry event, held to celebrate the 75th birthday of festival director K Satchidanandan, will be opened by Kerala Culture Minister Saji Cheriyan.

The festival will begin with poems by Asma Azaizeh from Palestine and Ismath Hussain from Lakshadweep. It will run all day from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Poets from South Africa, Italy, USA and Ireland will also participate and the list boasts of the presence of Taslima Nasrin and Indian poets like Salma, Chandrakanth Patil, Kutti Revathi, Nishi Chowla, Balachandran Chullikadu, KG Shankarapilla, PP Ramachandran and Rafeek Ahmed.

KLF is hosted by DC Kizhakemuri in association with DC Books.

The inaugural ceremony will be attended by Festival President A Pradeep Kumar, Chief Facilitator Ravi Deecee, Festival Advisor Hemali Sodhi and General Manager Abdul Hakeem. The poetry festival can be viewed on DC Books’ official Facebook and Youtube pages, organizers said. PTI ZMN RDS RDS
