Resonance Music & Arts Festival postpones event, pushes final edition to 2023 in Ohio
Just weeks before settling into their new home at Woodlands Nature Preserve in Charleston, SC, September 15-17, Resonance Music & Arts Festival has postponed their production. Event organizers Essential Productions wrote in a post this morning (Saturday August 27) that they were forced to postpone the event after Dorchester County suspended all music events on the reservation.
According to Post and courier, music and entertainment-related events require a special permit from the county, and requests for Resonance Music & Arts Festival and a Slightly Stoopid show at the venue have been denied. Michelle Mills, public information officer for Dorchester County, told the Post and courier that “the scale and frequency of events held in the Woodland Nature Reserve are no longer incidental and subordinate to the permitted ecotourism use of the property”.
Despite their best efforts, the organizers were unable to find a replacement venue in time for an event of the scale of the Resonance Music & Arts Festival. They also shared the announcement that in light of the new challenges, the event’s “Last Dance” will now take place at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Garrettsville, Ohio from June 29 to July 1, 2023.
The Resonance Music & Arts Festival lineup included two nights and four sets of Goose, two nights of Umphrey’s McGee, three nights of Papadosio, two nights of Lotus, two sets of ElephantProof and Eggy; and performances by Amon Tobin Presents Two Fingers DJ Set, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Emancipator, The Floozies, Big Something, Amber Lily, Dizgo, DJ Moldybrain, Easy Honey and more.

We recently learned that Dorchester County has indefinitely suspended all musical events in the Woodlands Nature Preserve. This includes all upcoming shows previously scheduled at this location.
Since we received this news, we have explored replacement sites throughout the Charleston area, southeast and mid-west nationwide. Between availability and logistical concerns, the only viable option is to return to Ohio.
There just isn’t enough time for our customers, programming, vendors, and our staff to change their travel plans to another part of the country while delivering the experience we’ve always promised to deliver. We have no choice but to postpone the event to next year.
This resonance will be our last and will take place June 29 – July 1, 2023 at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Garrettsville, OH. We understand that there will be a variety of questions and concerns in response to this news and we will respond to each of them as soon as possible.
Resonance has faced many challenges and adversities in our history and although we are at the base of our biggest hurdle yet, the show must go on.
Every challenge we’ve faced, we’ve done it with the support of so many amazing staff, groups, artists, volunteers, vendors, and of course, the most resilient and loving fans on the planet. . We can’t thank you enough for believing in us and touching our lives in countless ways over the years; we wouldn’t be where we are or who we are without you.
We would like to express our gratitude to our friends at Legend Valley and all their support during and after our stay there. Their belief in us planted the seed that allowed Resonance to grow. Since leaving Legend Valley in 2018 we have visited countless places across the country in search of a new home and while we have enjoyed some truly miraculous places, one thing has always been true, Ohio is our home.
As much as it saddens us to say that this will be our last Resonance. What better way to celebrate the entirety of this crazy ride than to take it back to where it all began. Saying goodbye is never easy, but we have some amazing announcements coming soon and we can promise you it will be the best sounding yet!
