“The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It” (July 2021)

This long-awaited third entry in the Conjuring series debuted last June. After the exorcism of eight-year-old David Glatzel, which took place in the second film, Arne Johnson – Glatzel’s sister’s boyfriend – finds himself embroiled in a murder case. However, his case is unusual: he is the first murderer in the United States to claim that the devil forced him to do so. Now it’s up to the Warrens to find the truth.

“Spiral” (May 2021)

For those who prefer twists and gore, the “Saw” series checks all the macabre boxes. “Spiral,” the eighth installment in the series starring Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson, takes place long after the death of John Kramer, the original “Saw” antagonist. It revolves around a corrupt police department and impersonator killer who wants to expand John Kramer’s methods of self-defense beyond the general population and into corrupt systems in the United States.

Available to watch on Hulu (with STARZ) and Amazon Prime.

“Candy” (August 2021)

The original film “Candyman”, based on a legend much like that of Bloody Mary, debuted in 1992. However, this reboot includes the origin story of the supernatural killer. The legend begins in a town called Cabrini-Green in a now gentrified Chicago. Anthony McCoy, an artist seeking a muse for his work, comes across the story of Helen Lyle, a woman who embarked on a massacre and attempted to sacrifice a child. To pinpoint the cause, he talks to a man named Burke who tells him the legend of the Candyman. McCoy uses the caption as inspiration for his gallery. He realizes his mistake when people start to be dead strangely after seeing his artwork.

Available to watch on Amazon Prime.

“Escape Room 2: Tournament of Champions” (July 2021)

For those who haven’t seen the first movie, “Escape Room” is exactly what it sounds like: people trying to escape from a series of rooms into challenges. However, just like the “Saw” series, the pitfalls and challenges are no joke. Now the last two survivors of the first “Escape Room” are back to hunt down the perpetrators of these horrific crimes and they must face another round of cruelly designed traps.

“Impie” (April 2021)

Alice, a deaf-mute girl from Boston, shocks her city when she is suddenly able to hear and speak, and claims to have been visited by the Virgin Mary. Now it’s up to the priests to investigate the case and find out its secret.
